Robustification of stabilizing controllers for ODE-PDE-ODE systems: A filtering approach

In this paper, we present a filtering technique that robustifies stabilizing controllers for systems composed of heterodirectional linear first-order hyperbolic Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) interconnected with Ordinary (ODEs) through their boundaries. The actuation is either available one the ODE or at boundary PDE. proposed framework covers broad general class systems. Assuming controller available, derive simple sufficient conditions under which appropriate low-pass filters can be combined control law to robustify closed-loop system. Our approach based on rewriting distributed dynamics as delay-differential algebraic equation and an analysis in Laplace domain. will simplify design consideration (which now done only case-by-case basis due complexity generality underlying interconnections) since it dissociates stabilization problem from robustness aspects. Indeed, becomes possible use convenient (but non-robust) techniques such (as cancellation coupling terms inversion dynamics), knowing resulting made robust (to delays uncertainties) using methodology.
